Coyote Magick

They walked
right passed
us
but
I couldn’t
see but
bits of each
a face here
torso there
there were
coyotes
everywhere

They stalked
ten
a few
hundred
thousands
it was
hard to count
how many
were there

In front
of our eyes
they magically
strode by
they gazed
at us
never breaking
their stride
their eyes
looking
for critters
scurrying
aside

They were
seeing
but not being
seen
in this magical
scene

Coming
and going
into realms
unseen
as if
to tell
us
to dream
to grow
our minds wise
to what we’ve
disguised
from
ourselves
hypnotized

The trickster
tries
to teach
what he
himself
can’t conceive
the path
that lies
180-degrees
